Day in and day out, the internet bombards us with catchy information about wireless charging, most times leaving out its cons.

This baffles interested buyers as they are curious to know the other side effects this new technology may have.

Despite the comfort and efficiency of wireless charging, it also poses some disadvantages which I’ll be unleashing in this article if you read to the end.

How does wireless charging work?

One of the major edges a wireless charging system has is that it’s stress-free.

Humans are lazy in nature so it brought easy charging– simply drop your phone on the pad. Some come with magnetic coils.

A typical example of a magnetic wireless charger is the recent apple MagSafe battery pack.

This wireless charger allows your phone to stick automatically with the aid of its inbuilt magnetic coils. How amazing technology is becoming!

Wireless chargers transfer energy to your phone by the means of induction– transfer of energy from electromagnetic coils, built into the charging-base house of the battery pad. Thus, transfers energy to the phone in a wave-like form.

Since the whole process isn’t linear,  a lot of energy escapes into the surrounding.

Of course, the energy is not going to waste, following the law of energy conservation which says ” energy can neither be created nor destroyed but it can be converted from one form to another”.

The resulting energy is heat energy which affects the phone and eventually causes overheating.

It takes only seconds to repeat the whole process which makes Wireless charging super fast and time-friendly.

However, there are sensitive things to observe while using a wireless charger for the first time to note those things that may hinder its efficiency. Below are brief highlights.

What to observe while using a wireless charger.

Wireless charging is the new mind-blowing, super-fast charging system. Using it can be very interesting however, your buyers ought to know a number of things to pay attention to while using it.

  • Ensure you drop it well at the spot of charging. Sometimes due to hastiness, you may drop it across the wrong spot.
  • Phone temperature: wireless charging systems are not linear in nature, so a lot of heat emits which in turn increases the temperature of the phone. So your buyers should frequently check the phone to prevent overheating.
  • Frequent charging: if you are the type that frequently charges your phone, then I guess a wireless charger is not the best thing for you.

Naturally, wireless charging systems support overheating, so frequent charging will definitely put the health of your phone at risk.

You can only manage to overheat by reducing the times you charge your phone.

Better still, you can choose to charge your phone once it reaches 50% thereby, reducing the time your battery stays on a wireless charger.

  • Watch how your phone battery reacts to the wireless charging system and adjust accordingly.

Cons of wireless charging

Everything that has advantages also has disadvantages, they say. Just like the super-amazing features of wireless chargers here and there, it will be also amazing to be aware of its disadvantages. They include:

  • Constant use of wireless chargers can affect your battery health. Earlier in this article, I explained how wireless charging works. The system of energy transmission supports overheating, and it is no doubt threatening to your battery health.
  • The obliviousness of battery percentage. Imagine having a stress-free battery source, the contentment you get from the fact that you can always have your phone charged anytime.

It makes you want to stay on your phone until your battery goes off. This is very detrimental to your battery health because It will definitely lead you to constantly charge your phone.

Research has shown that it is healthier to charge your phone when it is 50% and unplug when it is above 90%.

  • Threat to battery health: your battery health should of course be one of your biggest concerns while going for a wireless charger.

Wireless charging may preserve your battery health and make it last longer or otherwise depending on how you use it. There are precautions to take to reduce the chances of ruining your battery.

If you do not adhere to those instructions, certainly, wireless charging will be a threat to your battery health

  • Unsafe in sunny places: it is unsafe to use wireless chargers in a sunny environment. There is already enough heat coming out of the device and accumulated by your phone. so It will only be dangerous to expose it to more heat from the sun.

Also, switching on the light while taking pictures is very unsafe for your battery.

  • For wireless chargers that aren’t magnetic i.e they fall off with the slightest touch, it is not a good idea to carry them around.

Although, some buyers may form a stand for their wireless chargers in their cars and offices. but most times these stands are not exactly fit for it. Thereby, your phone is at risk of slipping off anytime. You know what that means! Yeah.

There is great comfort in not having to struggle with clutters while charging your phone. Yes! Wireless chargers have come to make charging your phone easier and faster.

However, despite wireless chargers having these super qualities, there exist some corresponding disadvantages.

The disadvantages are not so much but still important to let your buyers know. They include: overheating, constant charging, the threat to Battery health, obliviousness of phone percent by the users, and unsafe in sunny places amongst others.

Since wireless charging has become new for most iPhone users and some Android users.  it is very likely for an inquisitive buyer to want details of a product before purchase. In order to be aware of both the good and bad sides of the product. As a result, he/ she will make a more informed choice.
